Fat Loss

I have been working with Glen Barnett for the past two years. He became my personal trainer when I started at the Gym. I came because I was overweight, tired and unmotivated but knew I needed to do something. Glen has been there every week and has helped me greatly by keeping me motivated.

The workouts are at times tough and are varied in their approach. I can honestly say, that despite my lack of motivation initially my general health has improved, I ma loosing some weight and I have much more energy. The other great benefit is that I have become more flexible as a result of the exercises Glen has taught me.

I can highly recommend Glen and his techniques to anyone. If he can get me motivated, anyone can do this.

Since beginning personal training sessions with Beyond Intensity I have seen a great improvement in my muscle definition and Body Shape. I am getter stronger and feel I am getting to the body shape I have always wanted. Seeing the physical results continues to motivate me to exercise and weight train.

Glen you are such a positive influence and you are always encouraging. You keep me focused and looking at the 'bigger picture'.

I feel like I am really achieving my goals and I am enjoying it at the same time.

Matt Jarratt has this enthusiasm and always seems to know how to challenge me. He has this fantastic grin that he uses A LOT when he is ‘asking me nicely’ to do more or keep going on an exercise. He is good fun.

I remember first meeting Jacqui as my trainer for Boot Camp in Canberra, which was a fun motivator for me to get fit, even though I had never been a gym junkie or actively sporty. Now ….. I’m feeling fitter and happier with my physique I encouraged my partner to come with me…. We always leave in high spirits. She is a very motivated human being, always bubbly, full of life, occasionally animated (ha ha) and full of energy. I’ll miss her happy demeanor but I am thankful to her for making exercise fun for me and helping me make fitness a part of my everyday life.

One thing I love about Matt is that he always seems to know the answers to my questions. I’m one of these people who likes to know what I’m doing and why. He even rang me after a session once to give me the answer about something I’d asked him. He is a good trainer and great motivator.

Personal Training

Since working with Glen my fitness level has increased markedly. The sessions change regularly to give variety and allow me to concentrate on my areas of weakness. I have more energy and am able to do more. I am also coming to enjoy exercise

I have worked out with Glen for the past 15 months and have never looked back. Glen has shown me that I CAN do that extra push up, run a bit further and still come up smiling. My goals have been to improve fitness, strength and flexibility. All these continue to improve with the enthusiastic support and drive of Glen. Even when I am training alone and feeling fatigued, I can hear his voice in my head saying’ fatigue is good’ and I push on.

But most of all I have enjoyed the variety of exercises and innovative ways to train and have fun doing it. (Although onlookers may not agree I look like I am enjoying it).

Work hard and enjoy it??? Yes you can – with the right person.

I thought the boxercise classes at the gym looked like fun but I wanted more than just the cardio workout. I wanted to understand what I was doing and really learn the correct technique. The group instructors do a great job – but they have to keep an eye on the whole class. Once you know the basics, it’s difficult to keep improving without individual attention. So, for the past year or so I’ve been learning from Glen – and working hard! I really enjoy the sessions – and believe me, I wouldn’t be willing to crawl out of bed early on a freezing winter’s morning if I didn’t. My technique has definitely improved and so has my understanding. I started from zero experience and there is no way I would have made the same degree of progress in a general boxercise class. And with individual sessions there’s more time and scope to tackle the problem areas so I know I’ll continue to improve.

Glen’s always professional, he listens to you, offers suggestions and asks for feedback about ideas or what you would like to achieve. Answers your questions if he can. Never grumpy - hey, who wants a grumpy instructor?? The session should be enjoyable, even if you have to work hard! Not content to ‘rest on his laurels’ Glen keeps looking at ways to build on his knowledge and skills as an instructor.

Glen is a great motivator.
Glen is a diligent teacher ensuring safety and care throughout our sessions.

It is not just about the session in the gym but Glen has taught me it is a lifestyle thing… what you are doing in the other 23 hours you are not at the gym.

We have had shopping trips for groceries to help me understand nutrition, food labels and balance of food groups.

His sessions are fun and he has a genuine concern for my wellbeing. He has really helped build my confidence mentally and physically.

What can I say about Jacqui? She makes you cry, she makes you laugh, she makes you think, she makes you get up at 5.30am. She seeks you out, she checks up on you, she hounds you into class. She’s always there greeting you with a smile, she’s always there ready to help.

Sports Conditioning

Why personal training?
Because it means i am continually encouraged to work harder; and that
means better results; and that is what motivates me. I also know that with a
personal trainer standing beside when I am weight training, I am using
the weights equipment properly and as a consequence correctly developing my
muscles.

Why glen barnett?
Glen Barnett has been personally training me for about a year now. It
has been difficult year as I have suffered knee, lower back, neck and
shoulder problems. Glen has been excellent. He has rescheduled and redeveloped
my training program, including, where appropriate the inclusion of exercises
to help me work through the injuries. Glen has been in contact with me out-of-session to see how I am progressing, to offer encouragement and support. If it wasn't for Glen I would probably have given up, but I haven't, and I am so much looking forward to really making some progress over the coming months.
